Hair Extensions Prices – Finding One That Best Fits Your Budget

The latest and one of the most well-used hair accessories is hair extensions. They not only add volume and depth to your hair, but they can provide you with “the look” for a romantic evening with a special someone or for that special occasion. Hair extensions are now readily available in the market and anyone interested in owning one of these can simply purchase one. Hair extensions are available in different textures, color, length, origin, types and method of application.

Real human hair extensions, which covers both remi and non-remi hair extensions, can cost around $9-300 per piece. Synthetic hair extensions are priced at $17-79 per piece. These prices are dependent on the length (10 to 32 inches), style (wavy or straight) and number of pieces that are included in the kit that you wish to purchase. Wefted hair extensions are sold anywhere between $130 and $330 per weft while strand by strand hair extensions can cost around $2000 (this is inclusive of hairdresser’s fee).

Because of the ease of attaching clip-on hair extensions, you only have to pay for the hair extension piece that can range from $9 to $300. On the other hand, bonding services cost somewhere near $300 while fusion services range from $1500 to $3500. Weaving is priced at almost $1200.

If you want to put in hair extensions by yourself then you need to invest in some tools for putting them in, except for clip on hair extension. Here are some of the tools you might need. A fusion heat connector can cost about $47. A pulling needle that is used when attaching the hair extensions using the micro ring method costs $12. Fusion protector plates and micro rings that are used when attaching pre tipped hair costs $8 and $15, respectively.

Synthetic hair needs to be maintained using leave-in conditioners, shampoo, styling cream, shine spray, and hairspray that have been specifically designed to bring out the best in synthetic hair extensions. These products can range from $9 to $39. The cost of maintenance products for real hair extensions are quite similar to what you normally spend on your natural hair since you can use your usual hair care products.

If you want to have your hair extensions done by a professional hairstylist, be prepared to shell out around $400-800 for a partial head and $1600-4000 for a full head. This price range is already inclusive of the hair extensions to be used and the services of the licensed hairstylist also known as a hair extensionist.

Due to the high competition for hair extensions, salons have resorted to giving discounted rates to attract more customers. One thing to take note here, should you decide to avail of hair extension services with discounted rates, you have to be sure that the hairdresser is certified or licensed to do the procedure. The last thing you need is to spend more on fixing the damage done by an unlicensed or uncertified hairstylist after you initially started with spending less.

There is also the small matter of having your hair extensions re-done after your hair has grown for a couple of weeks. If you invested in real hair extensions, then you only need to pay for the re-attachment of your hair extensions; however, it pays to be forewarned that you might be spending the same amount as when you had the hair extensions initially attached. If you just want your hair extensions removed, which usually takes around 2 hours, you will also be charged based on the hairdresser’s hourly rate.
