It’s no secret that cucumbers are an incredibly healthy addition to any balanced diet, clear out your intestines and best of all, taste deliciously refreshing. But, did you know that you don’t have to eat cucumbers to get the best out of it, for your skin and body?
However, the best thing about my addiction to the green fruit is that it is so good for me, that I don’t even feel guilty about my slightly obsessive consumption. Therefore, as you can imagine, I am a very happy teddy!
What is it that makes cucumber so good for our eyes?
When I was a kid, I used to place cucumber on my eyes, and then complain because they didn’t seem to do anything for me. But, of course they didn’t, I was only ten! Now, of course, I’m a little wiser and I know that the cucumber seed oil that can be extracted from cucumbers using a steaming process is brilliant at reducing puffiness and swelling underneath my delicate eyes.
What do the goodies do?
Any girl knows that putting cucumbers on your eyes is a brilliant way of reducing puffiness (bags) and dark circles around the eyes. This is due to the way that cucumber prevents water retention, is full of vital vitamin C and antioxidants that keep our skin silky smooth, whilst protecting it from conditions that mean our skin needs extra moisture; illnesses, sun burn, dermatitis, eczema and psoriasis.
Cucumbers are also brilliant, because they contain potassium, sodium, magnesium, chlorine and fluorine.
Taking care of your skin
Used on the skin, cucumber oil soothes dermatitis, eczema, psoriasis, acne and sun burnt skin, thanks to the oils anti-inflammatory properties. Keeping your complexion bright and radiant, whilst balancing the moisture.
The anti-inflammatory properties also work well at reducing spots, pimples and blackheads from all areas of your skin. Cucumbers are also a natural source of silica, which works at ensuring that our skin and complexion looks healthy, bright, glowing and rejuvenated, and repairing skin cells, whilst minimising the signs of age spots.
Silica is also a key to keeping naturally curly hair healthy, by strengthening and encouraging the growth of new hair.
The phytosterols restore just the right balance of moisture into our skin, so that our dried out skin is well nourished, but not greasy, whilst keeping it strong.
Cucumber Seed Oil also helps ensure elasticity, thanks to the huge amount of Phytosterols that strengthen the skin’s lipid barrier, making sure that your skin gets just the right balance of moisture.
Moreover, if all of that wasn’t good enough for you (although I guess that it really is), Cucumber Seed Oil is also rich in important nutrients, such as Sodium, Fluorine, Chlorine, Potassium and Magnesium.
All in all, cucumbers really are the perfect fruit!
