I recently bought clip in human hair extensions. When I bought them I had brown hair, then I dyed my hair a reddish colour. I really want to still be able to wear my extensions. They are a shade 4, and the brand is Top Quality. I also cant go back and ask the people whom I bought them from if I can dye them because the shop has closed down 
. They are 100% HUMAN HAIR!! Not synthetic!!!!!!! If I cant go straight to red , can i dye them a light brown first or something? Also would normal blond hair dye work? PLEASE HELP!!!!!

Heyy KD sooo sorry to have to bug you again! your the only person who i have found that did it and worked, can i just ask what colour your extensions were when you got them? because mine are dark brown are yours blond or brown? or a different colour? Thank you SOOO much xx

yes you can as long as it’s real hair!
I dyed mine red using the same dye as what I used on my head. turned out beautiful!
My stylist also offered to dye them for me when I went in so you may want to try that
Do a strand test first on one of the pieces to make sure you get the results you want and deep condition them after

It is a VERY deep red and very bright! It’s a hard color to maintain but beautiful!
Currently it’s growing out and I added highlights so it’s a strawberry blonde. I am going to lighten my extensions to match. I figure if they become too damaged I can replace them but so far they have done very well. I also wanted to add that I only did 3 wefts on the clip-in hair because that’s all I really use. The rest I left the normal color so I can still use those later or do a completely different color (I have done purple and pink for fun

Yes you can dye them. Remember that they will get damaged too just like regular hair, so be careful. R4 is pretty dark, isn’t it like Midnight Brown? If it’s that dark, you may need to do a color strip and then apply your red dye once you have completely washed and dried them. I don’t think a light brown will lift that dark of color evenly, and if it did, it could come out looking orange. But I wouldn’t go through all that trouble just to match your color.
I would purchase synthetic extensions to match your red color. They are significantly less money than human hair, already come pre-styled, and you don’t have to worry about them getting dry, damaged, or split ends.
I suggest to save your human hair ones for if you go back to that color, or sell them.

You can color them darker with haircolor but I don’t recommend making them lighter with bleach you will not have good results. You can buy hair from the beauty supply and buy the clips separately. Usually I make mine somewhere between 5-8 inches wide and sew one clip on each end and one clip in the middle you can make as many as you need to get the desired thickness you would like. All of these can be made for about $10-$15. Also if you buy human hair you can custom color them and even buy blond hair and pick out highlights and color the rest a different color. I have made lots of these to sell to my clients and they are very easy and cool to make. Hope this helps good luck!
